I've got to join to vote?! I hate
that! What's your privacy policy?
We will never sell your email address or spam you with messages
unrelated to this site or this book project.
How do I vote?!
You vote by "joining" a game. Think of every game listed on the
site as a mini-fanclub. If you join a game, you just voted for that
game.

Can I vote for more than one
game?
Of course. Who can choose just one?! To make it easier to find a
game you want to vote for, click "Games." You'll see something like
the window pictured below, where you can search for a game by
title.

I get an email message every time
I vote for a game. Can I stop that from happening?
Yes! Sign in and go to "My Page." Hit the "Settings" link under
your name on the right. From there, hit "Email." Here you will be
able to set what email notices you receive from the site.
Will this site remain up after the
book comes out?
Yes! We believe in the social aspect of games and it is our hope
that the individual members of this site become an active and
thriving community of people with that and other common interests.
Once the content of the book is decided and it goes to print, the
focus of the site will shift and we will become a collection of
individual fan clubs within the broader community of game
lovers.
Beyond a ranking system, what are
the game pages for?
They'll begin as mini-fanclubs, but we believe they will grow!
Within a game group there are discussion forums and a comment wall,
but there's also room for expansion. To start, the groups are
entirely driven by the community, because the editors here do not
have time to facilitate individual groups. We will be encouraging
the publishers of each game to become involved with the site and if
it grows in membership like we hope, we will give administrative
access to individual game groups to any publisher or inventor who
wishes to have it. Of course we'll have guidelines, but imagine if
these groups were treated as fan sites that offered free games, ran
contests, and encouraged members to invite their friends. The game
groups would become thriving communities within the broader
community of 101greatgames.com.
Are there plans to make this more
than just a voting/ranking site?
The subtitle of the book may be "games you simply must play before
you die." If the book is a checklist for the average consumer
discovering some of these games for the first time, we thought that
a "Swap Meet" section where players can buy/sell/trade games with
one another would be neat. Already have a game on the list and want
to try another one? Trade it in for a game you haven't tried.
That's just one idea and we're open to yours.
Why should a publisher get
involved with this site?
Many brand managers of games are on Twitter, Facebook and other
social media sites trying to gather, influence and cater to fans of
their games. Why not send them here to vote and hang out? We see
this site as a potential gathering place for game lovers. Tim will
be promoting the book and the site on radio stations and in
articles nationally, which will bring even more people here. His
first two books,
Timeless
Toys and
WHAM-O
Super-Book have over 100,000 copies in print.
I added a game and it didn't
appear. What's up?
All games need to be approved before they are added. We reserve the
right to reject any game if it does not meet the rules listed at
the bottom of the main page. The site is growing fast, so please
give us a few days to approve a newly added game.
Will there be advertising on the
site?
We plan to offer ad space in the future if membership grows to the
point where it makes sense.
